Finding the best rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 121 D Shipwatch by AvantStay
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
