Strategies to get the optimal Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking a perfect Isle of Palms rental:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beachfront with OCEAN VIEWS in Wild Dunes Resort! Community Pool & Playground! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
