Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Isle of Palms. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachfront with OCEAN VIEWS in Wild Dunes Resort! Community Pool & Playground! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
