Tricks and tips to get the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- To start, have your group choose the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 118 Seascape by AvantStay
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
