Getting the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- To get the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Isle of Palms attractions.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Isle of Palms rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Views
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
