Tips for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 3rd Floor Condo in Wild Dunes Resort w\/ Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
