Strategies to get the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Isle of Palms area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 17 Sandcrab Court by AvantStay
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
