Tips to get the very best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View Looking at Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
Tips for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
