Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- To start, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Port O'Call C103 - Ocean View - Ground Floor Steps From Pool\/Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.

- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
