How to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Isle of Palms attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Quaint & Cozy Beach Home \/ Minutes Walk to Beach \/ Community Pool & Tennis \/ Dog Friendly! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms beach you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
