Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best rental home in the Isle of Palms area:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Private Pool, Ocean views, 2-blocks to beach has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
