Our top Isle of Palms rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental & When to go:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Isle of Palms area:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes w/2 Master Suites & Community Pool! Great Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
