Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your Isle of Palms vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes w\/2 Master Suites & Community Pool! Great Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
