Tricks and tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Isle of Palms restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group select trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Spacious 4-Bedroom Beach House with Pool and Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
