Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 203 Ocean Palms by AvantStay
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
