Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, try changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking yourrental home:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Oceanfront Atlantic Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
