Isle of Palms vacation rental tips:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your Isle of Palms rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Start by having your family decide on dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Modern Grand Pavillon Home: Steps to Beach, Pool Access has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Isle of Palms destination you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
