Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sand Dune by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
