Booking the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
When to book a Isle of Palms rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, try changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Whispering Palms- The Perfect Beach House! Elevator, Close to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
