Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautifully Remodeled Modern, Yet Charming Beach Home w\/Ocean Views & Private Pool! Quiet Location! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
