Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Isle of Palms restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:

- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
