Tips to get the optimal Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Isle of Palms rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 1 Intracoastal - Golf Views, Private Pool, Screen Porch, Theatre Room! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
