Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Isle of Palms area:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Private Pool, Elevator, Golf Cart (fee), Golf Course view- 8 Hidden Green has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms destination you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
