Getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:

- Summer months are high season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
