Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Isle of Palms area:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New Listing! Marsh Views, Pool, and Tennis Courts - 22 Linkside Villa has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
