Strategies for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Reserve your Isle of Palms rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Popular OCEANVIEW Villa! Easy Walk to Wild Dunes Amenities! Community Pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a certain Isle of Palms destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
