Booking the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 3 47th Avenue by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
