- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.

If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
