Booking the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the rightrental home:
- First, have your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Walk to the Beach + Private Pool, Rooftop Terrace, Balcony
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
