Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your Isle of Palms vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental home:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Villa 1111 Hot Tub & Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
