Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best rental home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Classic Family Beach Home w\/Game Room & Private Pool! Short 1 Block Walk to Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
