Strategies to get the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental home in Isle of Palms:

  • First and foremost, have your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Second row back from the beach, cornhole court, putting green, private pool! has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
