Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Second row back from the beach, cornhole court, putting green, private pool! - 2307 Palm has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
