Strategies to get the very best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Isle of Palms rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. New Luxury Home with Oceanfront-like Views! HUGE 6400sqft! 6BD, POOL,Hot tub, Elevator has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
