Vacation rental tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. \"406a Shipwatch\" Wild Dunes 3 BR Penthouse sleeps 7 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
