Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Large Condo! Prime Location, Community Pool & Elevator! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
