Tricks and tips to get the optimal Isle of Palms vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean view, community pool, screened porch, End Unit - 201C Port O'Call has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Isle of Palms destination you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
