Strategies to get the very best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 4 BR, Resort Amenities and short walk to beach, shops, dining has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
