Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Isle of Palms vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 4 BR, Resort Amenities and short walk to beach, shops, dining has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
