Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Classic Family Beach House, short walk to beach, Pet friendly w/ fee - 17 56th Ave has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms destination you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
