Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing your prefect Isle of Palms rental home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Private Oasis with large pool, 4 bedroom 3 bathrooms, on the Isle of Palms has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
