Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Isle of Palms restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Private Oasis with large pool, 4 bedroom 3 bathrooms, on the Isle of Palms has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
