How to get the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Luxurious Villa, Community Pool, Wild Dunes Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
