Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- To find the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Oceanfront Home w/Incredible Views has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
