Tips to get the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful Newly Renovated Condo with Exceptional Views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
