Rental booking tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Isle of Palms attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking your Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Port O'Call B 203, Direct Ocean View! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms beach you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
