Tricks and tips for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- Start by having your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. IOP 6BD Only 3 Min Walk to Beach w\/ Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms beach you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
