Strategies to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Isle of Palms vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Ocean Views, Screened-In Porch, Steps Away From Beach And Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
