Strategies to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental home in Isle of Palms:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 29 24th Avenue by AvantStay
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
