Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Isle of Palms. Reserve your Isle of Palms rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.

- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. - Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?

- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home.
