Tricks and tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Updated Pet friendly beach home, large screened porch, walk to beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
