Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Reserve your Isle of Palms rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront 2nd Floor Condo with Community Pool & Fishing Pier! Great location! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
