How to book the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Luxurious Villa with Ocean Views and Community Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
