Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the right Isle of Palms rental home:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Beach Access, Sunroom, Great Location! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
