Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 302 Charleston by AvantStay
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
