Strategies to get the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. \"Sea Remedy\" Oceanfront Condo, Swimming Pool, Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
