Isle of Palms rental home booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charming Classic Beach Home w/Private Pool, Chair Lift, Dog Friendly & 2 Master Suites! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
